Position Description:

What will you do? As the WIC Breastfeeding and Peer Counselor Coordinator, you will assist in the coordination of the Oregon WIC Program’s breastfeeding promotion and support efforts by planning and implementing the Oregon WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program. You will provide overall leadership and direction as well as policy and standards development in breastfeeding promotion. You will provide consultation regarding breastfeeding and nutrition training and education, and develop materials for local agency staff. In addition, the WIC Breastfeeding and Peer Counselor Coordinator integrates WIC breastfeeding promotion & support activities with other areas within WIC as well as with other health programs. This position will help monitor and evaluate state and local agency breastfeeding initiation and duration statistics while serving as the Nutrition Consultant to the State WIC Office. Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with emphasis on nutrition AND current status as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND)AND three years of certified work experience as a nutritionist or dietitian in public health, education, maternal and child health, social service, nutrition, or dietetics.

Desired Qualifications:

• Experience working in a local WIC agency as either a WIC nutritionist or WIC coordinator • Experience using an electronic medical or health records system in a WIC or public health setting • Experience developing, implementing and evaluating WIC and nutrition policies • Experience selecting, reviewing and/or developing educational materials and other resources for use by local agencies and other state staff • Experience promoting a culturally competent and diverse work environment
