August PNPG meeting.

-Questions to Ponder:
*Group agreed to endorce the new AAP recommendations on supplementing
breastfed infants with Vitamin D by 2 months of age until ready to start
cow's milk. All members are asked to send information to the pediatricians
that they work with.
*Group wondering if we need to add a Public Relations position to the
Executive Board. PR person would send newsletter to pediatrician groups with
nutrition related "news flashes" or other new information.
*'Group decided that Pediatric Obesity should be our focus/cause for the
year. Given all of the publicity and growing problem of overweight kids we
felt that we needed to get involved in the solution and prevention on a
grass roots level, as well as legislative level.
* Group encouraged to contact our legislators and find out what they plan to
do about pediatric obesity, and the effects on the economy.
* Group will support leaders who advocate for prevention/solutions to
pediatric obesity.
* Group needs to try to identify pediatricians tackeling the issue of
childhood obesity, support community leader working on this issue, and give
schools award for improving kids diets.
* PPS has eliminated sports drinks at the middle school level. Will be
selling milk and juice. Also, is change to baked chips
* Group also agreed that we need to have one meeting next year that is a
working session.
