JUNE 20,2002 PNPG MINUTES

I. Announcements:

1. Childhood obesity conference. January 6-8, 2003. Center for Weight and
Health. SanDiego Marriott Hotel.

2. Building Bright Futures Conference. September 17-20, 2002. Titled
Neonatal, Pediatric and Adolescent Nutrition in the 21st Century.

3. Pac West Distance Learning-Self study on working with kids w/ Special
Health Care Need. Contact Diane Smith for a order form.

4. Community Food Security Conference: From Farm to School will be held
Oct. 4-7.

5. OHSU still needs Failure to Thrive subjects for their study. Contact
Patricia Rose.

6. National WIC Association Nutrition and Breastfeeding in Phoenix, AZ

7. When you purchase Hot Lips Pizza, they will donate a portion to Growing
Gardens

II. Treasurer’s Report:

1. New member list is available. Contact Ann Raymon

2. $2005.10 balance. Good sales on books and brochures @ CaCoon Conference.

3. Group agreed to donate $100 to the Oregon Food Bank, for the use of their
conference room.

IV. New Business

1. Western Region Leadership Meeting- UCLA Leadership Grant from MCH. Public
health nutritionist training. They meet annually. The last meeting focused
on leadership training and data. There are options for training in the West.
It consists of on site training, coaching, and phone follow up. The Oregon
PNPG expressed interest in getting the leadership training through a grant.

2. Formula Brochure-Group was formed to work on updating the brochure. A
task force was also formed to discuss/get consensus on concentrating to
>24cal/oz using only formula.

3. NICU guideline reprints-Currently provided free of charge to WIC
coordinators, nutritionists, and CDRC. Many members of the group expressed
an interest in purchasing the guidelines. MCH may put them on their website.
Will put on the agenda for October on how much to sell them to members,
and others.

Group agreed that NICU guidelines would be sold to members for $3 at
meetings. Available at October meeting. If member wants them before
October, contact Diane Smith.
