Upcoming Conferences/Educational Opportunities:
1. Iowa State Nutrition Conference-Download-Possibly at Clackamas County Community College. Contact is Betty Izumi with OSU Extension. Topic: Food Security as a Public Health Instrument.
Fee:$20, includes lunch 8am-3pm. Check Iowa State website for more info.
2. Downlink from University of Alabama on June 5th at Oregon Health Division 10am-2pm. Limited space, and priority will be given to OHD employees. Topic Use of Motivational Interviewing in Pediatric Counseling.
3. CaCoon Workshop May 2-3, sponsored by CDRC. Contact: Diane Smith. Topic: Nutrition and Feeding the Child with Special Needs. Location Embassy Suites in Tigard.
4. Hugs Program 8 week program for 11-15yrs olds. Title: Teens and Diets, No weigh. Contact is Cheryl Alto. Program consists of a RD and MSW. 8wks. $320(sliding fee). Location 55th and Burnside.
5. Nutrition Calculator called Nutricalc provided by Dept. of Pediatrics at Yale. The web site is:

Old Business:
1. Proposal for small group to update OPNPG list of resources to include in new member packets, and on the web site. Betty Izumi, Donna Carrick, and Betty Shuler offered to work on this project.
2. It was agreed by group vote that minutes and announcements will be sent via e-mail. A copy of minutes will be sent to Connie Evers to include on our website.
3. OPNPG meetings will continue to be help on the 3rd Thursday of the even months. Exception will be that there will not be a meeting in August, and the December meeting will be on 12/12, instead of 12/19.
4. Ellen Satter Child of Mine books are still for sale. $14 for members, and $16 for non-members.
New Business:
1. Washington Health Division is looking for a co-sponsor to participate in their tube feeding update. The are looking for people to help/participate in the even. The group agreed that we would like to be involved.
2. PNPG Update giving by Robin Stanton. PNPG is eliminating the Area Coordinators as of 6/02. They will continue to have a state networker. They are currently working on a new organizational chart. A new position has been created called Legislative State Co-Chair. Meaning the PNPG is turning toward a legislative focus. They are wanting PNPG groups to work more closely with their states organizations(ODA). Concerns expressed by the group were the loss of resource/communication d/t loss of the area coordinator. The group agreed that it is time to reconnect with ODA. Jacque Ries volunteered to be the State Networker.
