Health Care Reform
Health Care Reform 2010
Health care reform legislation was passed by congress on March 23, 2010. Part of that legislation gave each state the task of creating and implementing health insurance exchanges. Oregon has now entered a conversation about how to implement the new legislation. The Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Oregon Health Policy Board (OHPB) are in the process of creating a health insurance exchange which is a centralized marketplace for shopping, comparing, and enrolling in insurance plans.
In September 2010 the OHA solicited feedback on the insurance exchange and they are now in the process of identifying the services that will be covered and who should provide these services.
Additional health care reform initiatives will be brought to the table for input continually over the next few years. It is important that Dietitians and Dietetic Technicians Registered in Oregon participate in creating a workable health care plan for all Oregonians.
Don’t miss this opportunity to shape health care in Oregon.
