Fall 2016 Meeting Info

The 96th meeting of the House of Delegates took place on October 14-15, 2016 in Boston, MA.

This year Oregon Academy President, Katie Dodd, served as Proxy Delegate while our Oregon Delegate, Jenny Jackson, enjoyed time at home on maternity leave with her newborn daughter.

This year’s meeting was broken into two sections:
• Day 1: Training on Appreciative inquiry
• Day 2: Mega Issue- Prevention and Wellness

Appreciative Inquiry is a method for engaging groups of people in a dialogic approach to organizational development and change. This training was meant to equip delegates in engaging members and obtaining meaningful information to bring to the house.

The Mega Issue was on Prevention and Wellness, a topic that touches all areas of dietetics.  Delegates discussed opportunities for credentialed food and nutrition practitioners in the area of wellness and prevention services and programs.  They also identified skills and strengths needed in this area.  Learn more by reading the Wellness and Prevention backgrounder and Wellness and Prevention fact sheet.

No motions were made at this meeting.  Additional follow-up will come in future months and will occur electronically until the spring meeting on April 22nd and 23rd.
