The Oregon Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics congratulates the 2011 award recipients!

Outstanding Dietitian of the Year (ODY) is the highest honor given by the Oregon Academy. This award recognizes accomplishments of Oregon dietitians and is given only for notable leadership, ability, and service. This year’s ODY recipient is Terese Scollard, MBA, RD, LD, Regional Clinical Nutrition Manager with Providence Health & Services. Ms.Scollard is a leader in clinical nutrition and management. Promotion of dietetics and nutrition is a critical mission of her professional life. Her efforts are in the area of adult malnutriton in acute care and incorporating nutrition informatics with malnutrition. Ms. Scollard recently completed the 10 x 10 Biomedical Health Informatics Course through Oregon Health & Sciences University.



The Recognized Young Dietitian of the year must be 35 years old or younger and demonstrate active participation in national, state or district dietetics association activities, demonstrate concern for the promotion of the optimal health and nutrition status of the population, and demonstrate leadership. This year’s RYDY recipient is Danielle Podesta, MS, RD, Administrative Dietitian with Oregon Health & Science University. Ms. Podesta is active in the dietetics profession and her community. Highlights of her service include participation in RD/DTR Day in Salem(2011), member of the Oregon AcademyConference Planning Committee (2011), and Portland Dietetic Association President (2010-2011) and President-Elect (2009-2010). Ms. Podesta recently volunteered with Medical Teams International for 10 days in March 2011 to provide nutrition education to nurses and families in the rural areas of Honduras.
