To assist the staff of the Facility to appropriately assess and provide medical nutritional
therapy for high risk women, infants and children through appropriate food
and nutrition interventions in the WIC program.
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Consultant will provide weekly visits to the facility. Documentation of the review
of each client seen, their nutritional status and care plan with any needed recommendations
will be made in each medical record. During the time of consultative
visits the dietitian will be available to teach classes to clients. The Consultant or
designee will be available during normal hospital dietitian staffing hours to provide
telephone consultation to staff related to clients. The consultant is also available to
assist the WIC coordinator in quality assurance monitoring, staff training and outreach
to local medical providers.
Provides individualized counseling for high risk WIC participants; requires counseling
skills for high risk participants, knowledge of nutrition and diet therapy and individual
high risk care plans.
Accesses and utilizes resources for delivery of high risk services; requires
knowledge of availability of nutritional and social services for high risk participants,
community and state resources, therapeutic and advanced nutrition resources.
Provides professional nutrition expertise; may require WIC staff training, nutrition
education planning, nutrition policies and consultation with WIC staff.
Master’s Degree in nutrition; a Registered Dietitian (RD) with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, or eligible for RD registration; an Oregon Licensed Dietitian (LD).
Registered Dietician with 2-4 years experience, preferably in the area of
Public Health and/or WIC Nutrition.
May be subject to a background investigation including criminal background investigation.
